These gear units are specially designed for the underground deployment The locomotives are in action 1,400 m below the surface north of the Arctic Circle in mining iron ores. The gear units are designed extremely robust and protected against the ingress of dirt. The low driving speed of the locomotives of only 2.5 km/h with loads requires precise and intricate designing of the internal parts, to ensure oil supply under all operating conditions.
